3v3 is the official format
The experience description is specific: fast 3v3 games, tight courts, constant pressure, and every possession matters. You can team up with friends or play opponents. Server size on the public record is 24 players, which is the server cap, not the players on one court.
Other modes a first look showed
On September 6, 2026, a community player opened a mode menu and named 2v2, 1v1, and then queued 3v3. The same session mentioned a leaderboard and a free-play spot where you can take balls. The player also guessed that a long 3v3 queue might start short-handed. Treat that guess as a guess.
| Mode | Where it is documented | What it is useful for |
|---|---|---|
| 3v3 | Official description | The match the game is built around. |
| 2v2 | September 6 first look | Passing with one teammate. |
| 1v1 | September 6 first look | Shot timing and on-ball defense with nobody else to blame. |
| Free play | September 6 first look, player was not fully sure of the label | Trying prompts before you queue. |
How to use the modes
- Learn the live prompts in free play or 1v1.
- Add a teammate in 2v2 and practice one pass out of pressure.
- Move to 3v3 when you can keep space and get back on defense.
- After the October 7, 2026 experience update, look at the mode menu again. A timestamp is not a promise that 1v1 and 2v2 stayed.
Spacing advice for 3v3 is ordinary basketball, not a hidden rule: do not stand on top of the ball handler, and do not leave the paint empty if you are the player who can reach the rim. If the live game shows assignments or a role icon, follow that icon.
